30 Days Of Meetup - Day 14

The Durham A Course In Miracles Meetup Group

Afternoon Discussion

Meet other local students of A Course In Miracles. Share studies and ideas on practical applications in one's daily life. We'll be using the blue book and the group will set the pace.

We have decided to start the group meeting face-to-face twice a month on Sunday evenings. The weeks we don't meet in person, we will check in by e-mail. Daily we will each be using the workbook to do one lesson a day.

Our first discussion in September will be on Sunday, September 14. We will pick up in Chapter 3 of the text. Hope to see you then!

30 Days Of Meetup - Day 13

CRUZIN' ANGELZ - Good Girlz Gone Biker!
Never ride faster than your ANGEL can fly!

http://fembikers.meetup.com/171

Our group is made up of women who ride their own motorcycles. We welcome all makes and models, especially cruisers, since Cruzin' is what we do best! Our goal is to support each other while gaining experience, fun, friendship, and growth. Statistics show that only 12% of motorcyclists are female. Our intent is to accomodate women with situations and circumstances, so that we feel comfortable in this "male dominated" world of motorcycles. We also have co-ed Meetups, so that our husbands and guy-friends can come out and join us too!

The Cruzin' Angelz makes an effort to support local charities whenever possible, and one of the events we attend each year is the "K.C.'s Ride Without Fear". The ride is sponsored by the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and is hosted by Ray Price Harley Davidson. This annual charity event helps to support awareness of intimate partner domestic violence. The event is dedicated to Karen Crawford, a woman rider, whom was strangled and killed by her ex-boyfriend on Jan. 1st, 2006. This year's ride will take place on Saturday, Sept 13th and we encourage everyone to come out and help support this great cause...even if you don't ride motorcycles.

30 Days Of Meetup - Day 12

Outdoors on Weekdays
Raleigh Greenway Bike Ride

Enjoy the great outdoors on Monday through Friday during the day by hiking, biking, canoeing, and any other healthy way. If you wish to pursue these activities and more during traditional work hours, then join us. This is an opportunity to meet up with other like minded people who may not be able to do these activities on weekends. We are open to all ages, and we welcome suggestions. See you outdoors!

The planned ride will be a moderately paced 15-25 mile ride on the Raleigh Greenway system starting at Shelly Lake. The group cycling ability and desires will determine the actual ride. We'll meet at the lower Shelly Lake parking lot located on Millbrook Rd. at the base of the dam. (Not the main parking lot at the Sertoma Art Center) The greenway trails we'll be riding are wide paved greenway trails with an occasional short residental sidewalk or road section linking the greenways. Cycling helmets are recommended.

30 Days Of Meetup - Day 11

Carolina Hauntings, Apparitions and Poltergeists Society
Examining the Details of a Paranormal Investigation - Electronic Voice Phenomena

Do you want to meet other people interested in learning how to investigate paranormal phenomena, share your insights and make new friends? If any of the above describes you, then you've found the perfect group!! We don't make trips to battlefields a priority, or discuss individual "sensitive abilities" ad nausium. Through our association with the National Society of Paranormal Investigation and Research, Inc. (NSPIR), we'll show you how to properly investigate paranormal activity using scientific principles. We will discuss various techniques and how they are used, review actual cases and also practice using these tools in the field.

One of the simplest methods of data collection during a paranormal investigation is the capture of Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) or Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC). The tool for the investigator to use for this method is relatively inexpensive and not a specialized piece of equipment.

In this meeting we will focus on the following:

* The details of the equipment used,
* Investigation techniques employed (including some that are controversial),
* Methods of recording, and
* The analysis of collected data.

Examples from actual cases will be played and discussed.

The Durham Wine Meetup Group
Six Plates: Blind Tasting
(http://wine.meetup.com/238/calendar/8478244/)

Meet fellow Wine Enthusiasts near you! Come to a local Wine Meetup to taste new wines; learn about noses and legs; and discuss great vintages and estates. Everyone's welcome, from new bouquet-sniffers to educated connoisseurs.

Six Plates has agreed to hold their blind tasting at a special time and date for our group:

You thought tasting wine was fun, Six Plates just made it that much better. We will be offering 4 to 6 2oz wine servings at $10 per person for blind tasting. The tasting will start at 6pm, with questions about each wine tasted. Answers will be given at 7:00pm. Be there by 6:30 if you want to participate in the "quiz". (It's a piece of paper with 5 multiple choice questions about the wines, Matthew will discuss the correct answers at the end.)

Triangle Adult ADHD Meetup Group
The Treasure Within ADHD" - Dr. Hallowell's Keynote Speech

We're a group of adults with ADD or ADHD (diagnosed or not) who stay in touch via our bulletin board and monthly meetings. We offer support, ADD info and fellowship (and we are NEVER dull or boring)!

Dr. Ned Hallowell, author of Drive to Distraction, was one of the keynote speakers at the recent ADDA (Attention Deficit Disorder Association for adults) conference and I found his presentation funny, engaging and thought provoking. I'd like to share it with you -- it's about 60 minutes long - and then have discussion about whether you agree or disagree with his "positive" position on ADHD.

Of course we'll also have FOOD, INTRODUCTIONS, the ADD moment of the Day (or moment) and lots of lovely ADD tidbits to share.
